The Rockford Files: Jim is asked by Janet Carr to find her husband Prentiss. Jim finds Prentiss in a motel room murdered, so goes to the police Sergeant Larsen. Later he meets with Larsen and Lieutenant Furlong who tell Jim that Prentiss Carr comitted sucide. Jim sees Janet, who went missing from two hours – claiming she was looking at travel magazines. Het tells her Prentis is dead and gives her his suspicions. On her instructions Jim sees the Police Captain telling him Prentiss Carr was murder leading to a conclusion that that Furlong and Larsen rearranged the murder scene for a conclusion of suicide. Both officers are very hostile toward Jim after he raises this very inmportant issue, and run him out of town. When Janet shows Jim a liquor store reciept, Jim uses it to follow the delivery man to a house in Bay City, where Nancy Hellman resides. He follows her to the pier where she meets Eric Saunders, Prentiss Carr’s employer. Nancy is found dead, and then Jim is followed by Terry Warde, into a lumber yard where a shootout takes place…
