When he arrives at Marcus\' house, he goes through all the initial acts, listening to stories and bull-sh*ting himself to an honest man, who is scared for his daughter. All the tests go as planned, and Cotton\'s staged exorcism is set to commence. Through a set of cleverly arranged trip lines and magnets, Cotton performs a very entertaining exorcism, and gets the family to believe he has abolished the demon. He leaves the family satisfied, fully confident that he has proved why exorcisms are all in the mind. Cotton\'s exorcism was undoubtedly funny, from the fake demon noises to the over the top performance from Cotton himself. Just like what you\'d see from the book.
When Nell shows up at Cotton\'s hotel, unannounced and in the middle of the night, signals go off that something is wrong. She\'s unresponsive, and they take her to the hospital, where her dad comes to get her in the morning. On his way back to the Sweetzer farm, he notices a fight between Nell and her father, Marcus. There are more funny moments - laugh out loud moments than you\'d expect. Without giving away any jokes for enjoyment - there were a lot of things to make fun of and the contemporary references were spot on.
